STOCKSHOTS of the city of Donetsk, the capital of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic which had been under pro-Moscow rebel control from 2014 and was then taken under formal Russian control in 2022. As one of the main flashpoints of brutal clashes between Ukraine and the pro-Russian rebels which started in 2014, the city continues to find itself under regular Ukrainian strikes. Kyiv considers Russia's control and its territorial claims illegal and the region is internationally recognised as part of Ukraine. STOCKSHOTS OF DONETSK
