A July Fourth weekend deluge in Texas caused catastrophic flash flooding that has killed at least 89 people.
Disabled Army veteran Daniel Carlton is one of many helping with recovery efforts in Center Point, Texas.
"Service revolves around my life, in uniform, out of uniform so I get out here and do what I can" he said, using his prosthetic leg to keep his balance while cutting up a tree with a chainsaw.
Him and his family are frequent visitors of the Guadalupe River and has friends that have died from the floods.
"That foundation of friends and family and faith, I mean that's what draws us to help."
He's part of a group helping called Project Grit, who's mission is to 'turn adversity into fuel.'
Terrence Ogden is the groups founder and is finding any way to help out fellow Texans who are going through heartbreak.
"If I was in these people's positions, how would I feel and and what would I want?"
Searchers in central Texas have found the bodies of 75 people, including 27 children while fourteen other deaths have been reported in other parts of Texas.
