For decades, they relied on a station in neighboring Dillon to respond to emergencies in Silverthorne but as Silverthorne has grown and seen more tourism the new station was added to speed up response time. The fire station has all the usual things you would find in a firehouse, but it’s also been designed with state-of-the-art features to keep firefighters, healthier, and living longer. There’s a decontamination room where firefighters can wash bunker gear and store it safely and to reduce stress red lighting has been installed to ease firefighters into a state of readiness when they’re woken up in the middle of the night.
