Description
A Riverview man has been sentenced to life in prison for leading law enforcement on a multi-county chase in a stolen box truck back in 2022.
Deputies said, Brandon Baker, who was 33 at the time, carjacked multiple people in the Tampa Bay area before stealing a box truck and heading north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75.
When the Florida Highway Patrol realized Baker had made it to the Gainesville area, it requested assistance from the Alachua County Sheriff's Office to track him down.
Baker then exited I-75 onto Southwest Archer Road in Gainesville where he led troopers and deputies on a chase.
Dashcam video shows multiple patrol cars following the box truck off the highway and through multiple red lights, swerving around cars and often driving on the wrong side of the road.
Baker can be seen hitting multiple cars both on the road and in a shopping plaza.
Once they reached SW 34th Street, the video shows Baker jumping out of the moving box truck and attempting to run before he gets hit by an unmarked patrol car and arrested by multiple law enforcement officers.
A jury found him guilty on multiple felony charges Thursday and sentenced him to life in prison.
