July 2 on The Story: Last November marked Portland's first election using ranked-choice voting. For some voters, the run-up to the election was full of questions and concerns — especially about the city council races, which used a multi-winner method of RCV called "single transferrable vote." So a research lab at Cornell University looked into the data from the election, trying to determine if any of those concerns were borne out by the election outcomes.
