June 24 on The Story: Earlier this month, Gov. Tina Kotek and Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson exchanged letters about the county's Preschool for All program, funded by a tax on high earners passed by voters in 2020. While Kotek said she supports universal preschool, she argued that the tax is driving high earners out of the county. Vega Pederson disagreed. That difference of opinion went to the next level late Monday evening when some Oregon lawmakers introduced an amendment that would very pointedly end PFA in Multnomah County.
