12/6/73 The Padres moving to Washington DC!? Say it ain't so. Our reporter (making his debut in News 8 Throwback) Fred Gallagher:..."above San Diego Stadium, former home of the San Diego Padres." Not so fast Fred. Thankfully McDonald's owner Ray Kroc bought the team in January 1974. Game footage from 6/20/73.
