A pelican is receiving medical care after a Pinellas County Deputy discovered it with an injured wing. In a post on Facebook Thursday morning, the sheriff's office says Deputy Bassous responded to a call from Birds In Helping Hands, a nonprofit that assists in protecting injured or endangered species, that "well-meaning" people were picking the bird up and feeding it chips.
