A jury on Tuesday found a Tampa man guilty of first-degree murder in the 2022 death of 14-year-old Nilexia Alexander. On Friday, they delivered a verdict on whether Ronny Walker would be sentenced to death or spend life in prison. After a day of testimony, the jury deliberated for several hours on Friday and read their decision in court just before 5 p.m. The jury announced that although the aggravating factors outweigh the mitigating factors in the case, Ronny Walker would be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. "The jury decided to show mercy in this case," the judge said in court before officially stating the sentence.
