London Zoo carries out its annual weigh-in of animals, including Ring-tailed lemurs, capybaras, penguins and tortoises. The data collected from over 10,000 animals across 400 species is shared on a database so zookeepers across the globe can preserve endangered species. “We don't just weigh them once per year, we weigh them in some cases every single day of the year. But what today is is a formalised process where all of those weights are logged and recorded onto an international database,” says Daniel Simmonds, Animal Operations Manager at London Zoo.
