Description
Indigenous people from Ecuador's Amazon protest outside the Constitutional Court in Quito, denouncing the government's oil exploitation and failure to fully suspend the so-called ITT block, oil fields located within Yasuni National Park. The area lies within a protected jungle reserve inhabited by Indigenous communities, some living in voluntary isolation.
"We do not come here to beg, nor to plead; we come here based on the popular consultation, which was held democratically two years ago," says Juan Bay, president of Waorani Nationality of Ecuador. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
