Description
Peruvian archaeologists unveil a 12-million-year-old porpoise fossil, a species of marine dolphin, discovered in the south of the country. "We have an almost complete skeleton with vertebrae, ribs, parts of the skull," says paleontologist Mario Gamarra, "this allows us to do more studies". Measuring three and a half meters, the petrified skeleton was found in almost perfect condition during an excavation in the Ocucaje desert, some 350 km south of Lima. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
