Two wildfires have destroyed nearly 400 hectares in the north of the French island of Corsica. Nearly 180 firefighters, 50 vehicles, and four aircraft were mobilised to tackle the two blazes, according to authorities. Michel Prosic, Prefect of Haute-Corse, said "All homes are protected by firebreaks and firefighting vehicles that have been pre-positioned in front of each house," adding that the origins of the fires may be the "work of human hands."
