Description
July 28, 29 and August 2, 1975 Three reports about a Great white shark caught off the coast of Catalina by a San Diego based fishing boat. In the summer of 1975 the movie Jaws was a blockbuster hit--people were suddenly fascinated and horrified by the creatures. That's why thousands showed up at Shelter Island as the 1400 pound shark was unloaded. The beast was sold to SeaWorld and went on display a few days later. Gene Gleeson was at Shelter Island on day one and two, and Robert Salinas was at SeaWorld for the big debut.
Some of our film you see here is in the new National Geographic documentary Jaws @ 50.
