Jacob "Jake" Dekema (1915-2017) was a prominent figure in California's transportation history, particularly known for his role in developing the Southern California freeway system. As the District Director for Caltrans District 11 (which included San Diego, Imperial, and parts of Riverside counties), he oversaw the construction of a vast network of highways and connectors, earning him the nickname "Mr. Caltrans".
