7/31/1956 An old auto, that has been buried in the sand for the past forty years, has been discovered in Mission Valley. The auto, a 1916 Dodge roadster, was found by Harvey L. Brown, a Woodward Sand company worker who was loading sand with a tractor. The tires still showed some signs of life... there was air in the tubes, even acid in the battery. Two San Diegans, Pete Ricard and John Seuss, have identified the auto as one belonging to H.A. Clark. Clark had the car in his garage when the 1916 flood, the worst one in the city's history, swept through Mission Valley. That's the flood blamed on Harry Hatfield, the rainmaker. The garage and car were swept away, and although Clark searched the valley for years the car was never found till now.
