California Weather: Storm Forecast | Weather Impact Alert
Storms are having their impact felt across California with snow in the Sierra Nevada, rain in Northern California, and rain in Southern California. The NWS issued a Flood Advisory for portions of Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties. The NWS also issued a Winter Storm Warning for parts of the Sierra.
This video has the latest forecasts from CBS8 in San Diego, covering San Diego County, and ABC10 in Sacramento, covering the Sacramento region and Sierra Nevada mountains.
San Diego Forecast: A strong low pressure system is continuing to unleash rain, wind and thunderstorms across the state of California today, moving from north to south. Despite a mostly dry early morning commute, scattered showers will begin as early as 8:00 a.m. across San Diego County. A more moderate to heavy line of rain will move south, starting around noon in Oceanside and making it across most of the county before 6:00 p.m. Alongside the rain, wind speeds will pick up dramatically along the coast and inland this afternoon and temperatures will be at the coolest point of the past week.
Sacramento & Sierra Forecast: Weather conditions forecast for the Sacramento region are continuing to favor a wet and snowy forecast through early Wednesday as the first significant cold fall storm rolls through Northern California. The storm will bring lingering impacts through Tuesday with true clearing through the morning Wednesday. Snow levels will be falling through the day Tuesday to below the passes as the cold air really changes conditions in the mountains.
The system will still produce light rain and snow by Wednesday morning then clear out during the day. There is a Winter Storm Warning in the Sierra above 6,500 feet with travel impacts. The warning will last through 5 a.m. Wednesday. Expect periods of delays in the mountains, possible chain controls and slick roads. Postpone travel if possible.
