Description
Meet Paxton | When Paxton was born, he was diagnosed with a rare combination of nongenetic abnormalities and rushed to Rady Children’s. At just 2 days old, he underwent his first surgery. Paxton needed open-heart surgery at 3 months old, and he and his family spent a significant portion of his infancy in Rady Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Tara and Paxton’s dad, William, found comfort in the care of neonatologist Marva Evans, MD, and the entire NICU team. Since then, Paxton has had more than 20 surgeries, all aimed at giving him a chance at a healthy life. Now, 5-year-old Paxton is able to enjoy his days running, playing and discovering just like any other child, though he will need continued care for the rest of his life.
On August 26, CBS 8 and Rady Children’s held a Working Fur Kids Give-A-Thon, encouraging donations from the community in an effort to raise funds for the Rady Children's Resident Professional Canine Therapy program. The program will help ease the pain and suffering of children who are patients at Rady Children’s Hospital, California’s largest non-profit children’s hospital.
