During a ceremony to rename the Tampa River Center in honor of Bob Buckhorn Wednesday, the former mayor confirmed the rumors that he is planning to enter the 2027 Tampa mayoral race. "It's probably the worst kept secret in Tampa," Buckhorn said. "I think Tampa's at a pivotal point, and I think we have some more chapters to write. I think we have some things to fix that come as a result of our success, whether it's, you know, stormwater or traffic or potholes or whatever. And to the extent that I can make a difference and help write some of those chapters, yeah, I'm gonna do it." Buckhorn led the city from 2011 to 2019 and was instrumental in expanding Tampa's Riverwalk, where the newly named Bob Buckhorn River Center sits.
