A sign meant to warn drivers about dangerous conditions stayed silent during Wednesday's storms.
The flood warning sign that sits near the Broad Branch and Soapstone Creek junction on Broad Branch Road was out while the street flooded.
“It’s been doing that for years. I’ve been driving down that road since 1976,” said Mike Joyce, who lives in the area. “Years, ago, I had a small BMW, and it shifted lanes driving down there.”
The warning sign is connected to a solar panel for power and a hydrostatic sensor to detect water levels.
DDOT told WUSA9 a team will be sent out to look at the warning light and find out what went wrong and what can be done to make sure this is fixed as soon as possible.
