July 16 on The Story: On a sweltering summer day on the streets of Old Town Portland, a woman named Stephanie is counting down the days until she's due. Homeless and addicted to fentanyl, Stephanie is also about nine months pregnant. She's made it this far carrying this child to term, and she's known enough people who have given birth on the street that she's optimistic. But at the same time, she struggles to accept any kind of real help for herself and her baby if it might get in the way of her substance use.
