Oct. 14 on The Story: With the Trump administration still making Portland a focal point for immigration enforcement, attempts to deploy National Guard troops, and fancifully bellicose rhetoric, some members of the city council are considering policies that would better counter what the federal government is dishing out. The Protect Portland Initiative is modeled after an executive order issued by the mayor of Chicago after the Trump administration started its immigration crackdown there, but in this case it would need the city council to adopt it.
