Sept. 19 on The Story: Lawmakers in both Oregon and Washington are getting anxious as delays impacting the Interstate Bridge Replacement project pile up, which is likely to boost the price tag as well. One of those delays is in Washington, D.C., where the federal government is conducting an environmental review. That should have been done around now, but instead is getting pushed months out. Meanwhile, project planners are still trying to win approval from the U.S. Coast Guard for a design which would eschew a draw bridge. If those matters aren't wrapped up soon, it could impact when the project starts breaking ground — which could, in turn, threaten federal grant funding.
