Description
IMPD is investigating after an off-duty Anderson police officer was shot while trying to recover his stolen vehicle Monday morning on the city's near east side.
IMPD said in a social media post that the shooting happened in the 600 block of Woodruff Place West Drive, just north of East Michigan Street, just before 6:30 a.m. May 19.
According to IMPD Ofc. Tommy Thompson, the victim received minor injuries from the shooting and has been taken to a local hospital in "good" condition.
The Anderson Police Department later confirmed the victim who was shot is an off-duty APD officer. Officials say the officer was trying to get back his personal vehicle that was stolen.
