We worry about air pollution outside our homes, but what about the air pollution inside? Researchers at Purdue University are studying the impact of fragranced cleaners, fresheners and wax melts on our indoor air. Engineering professor Nusrat Jung said the more they study, the more concerned they become. "We spend a lot of our time inside buildings, and it is very important to understand the composition of the air that we breathe," Jung said. Jung and fellow civil engineering professor Brandon Boor are conducting their research using a tiny house-turned laboratory on campus. One of their tools? The same instrument used to study tailpipe exhaust. "The air is so polluted that we have to use a robust instrument," Jung explained.
