Description
Flooding following early-morning storms in central Indiana has caused several issues on Indianapolis interstates Wednesday.
Around 8:30 a.m. May 14, INDOT cameras near Edgewood Avenue on Indy's south side showed multiple lanes of Interstate 65 under water. Crews nearly waist-deep in water appeared to be working to clear a drain.
Southbound traffic on I-65 was backed up to I-465.
An INDOT spokesperson confirmed the flooding was due to a blocked drain, and said "the debris was likely from a passing vehicle at some point, which is why it is so important for drivers to secure their loads and not litter in roadside areas."
The spokesperson said all lanes were expected to reopened shortly.
