Description
The Hendricks County prosecutor has filed a motion to shield the case records of a man charged in a crash that killed two young children in Plainfield.
S'Doni Pettis, 25, of Indianapolis, was allegedly fleeing from police Feb. 5, 2025, when the stolen car he was driving smashed into the car carrying 3-year-old Ares and his 2-month-old sister, Iris. The crash happened at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Ronald Reagan Parkway. The victim's car burst into flames after the crash, and both children died.
Mark Vawter, the 65-year-old great-grandfather of Ares and Iris, was killed May 5 outside the Hendricks County Courthouse when he allegedly pointed a gun at deputies escorting prisoners into the courthouse.
