Description
Ivy Tech Community College is discontinuing its free summer courses for high school students, saying state budget cuts are to blame.
This free program has been popular. Ivy Tech says 14,000 high school students have participated over the past three years.
Last year alone, 6,400 students took the classes. This summer, the school was expecting a spike to 9,400 students. Each student saved, on average, about $1,000 in tuition and fees.
But Ivy Tech says money, after the most recent legislative session, got a lot tighter.
