Drivers will begin receiving penalties for speeding in a construction zone on the northeast side of Indianapolis. INDOT has been monitoring speed in the Clear Path I-465/I-69 construction zone since early in 2025, with drivers receiving warning notices for speeding as part of the Safe Zones program. The department reports 90,000 notices have been sent out, warning drivers about their speed. But starting Monday, May 5, speeding through the construction zone could come with a fine. If you are driving 11 mph or more over the posted speed limit in specified work zones, you will be mailed a violation notice. If it's your first violation, you will get a warning; if it's your second violation, you will get a $75 ticket; and if it's your third violation, you will get a $150 ticket. Since these are civil penalties, drivers will not get points on their license.
