Indiana State Police is investigating after a Grant County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man with a knife Sunday afternoon in Marion.
Around 4:35 p.m. April 27, Marion police officers, Grant County sheriff's deputies and Indiana State Police troopers responded to a report of a person with a knife who had cut himself at a home in the 3600 block of South Washington Street, near East 36th Street.
Officers arrived and found 56-year-old Derick P. Morgan, of Marion, armed with a knife and bleeding from his neck.
According to Indiana State Police, officers "issued several commands" to Morgan before he ran at a Marion police officer, with a Grant County sheriff's deputy then shooting Morgan.
