In the past decade, 269 people have died in crashes in highway worksites or worksite backups in Indiana, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). Drivers will start receiving penalties for speeding in construction zones to try and combat that. This will start being enforced on Monday, May 5 in the Clear Path I-465/I-69 construction zone on Indy's northeast side, INDOT officials said.
