IMPD is investigating after a man was critically injured in a shooting late Tuesday on Indianapolis' east side. The incident was reported around 11:30 p.m. April 15 near the intersection of East 34th Street and North Emerson Avenue. IMPD Capt. Rob Rider said officers responding for an incomplete 911 call found a man who had been shot inside a truck. That man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Officers determined the truck was parked in a gas station parking lot when an unknown person approached it and shot the man, who accelerated, causing the truck to cross Emerson Avenue and crash into a retaining wall, Rider said.
