Description
Self-driving trucks are going to be tested on Interstate 70 in Indiana, as part of a partnership between the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). The trucks will be testing "automated platooning technology." Platooning is when trucks travel together in a close formation, which cuts down on wind resistance and increases fuel efficiency. The automated platooning hopes to let the trucks travel closer together through automation. “Harnessing truck automation technology is one of many innovative safety efforts underway at INDOT,” INDOT Commissioner Lyndsday Quist said in a statement. “In partnership with Ohio, our goal is to create a safer, lower-stress environment for all drivers.” MORE: https://www.wthr.com/article/news/local/partially-automated-trucks-coming-to-interstate-70-in-indiana-ohio-indot-odot-indianapolis-self-driving-trucks-platooning/531-85fd3fc6-501e-4ed7-9757-7d5cc618c254
