Description
An Indianapolis woman, charged in two separate fatal crashes, was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to two counts of reckless homicide.
The judge sentenced Kelli Anderson to 84 more days in jail, followed by three years of supervised probation. Her license is also suspended for 10 years. Anderson got the maximum three-year sentence but got credit for time she had already served while awaiting trial.
Dr. Brian Dillman, an emergency room physician and father, was walking on the sidewalk near 49th and Meridian streets on May 19, 2022, when he was struck and killed. Kelli Anderson was behind the wheel of the car that hit him.
Investigators say Anderson was told by doctors after that crash that she was a high risk to herself and others and should not drive for six months until cleared by a neurologist. Anderson allegedly told doctors she understood.
Less than a month later, Kiana Burns, a mother of four, was in a stopped car when Anderson slammed into it going almost 70 miles an hour. Burns died from her injuries.
