Description
A state lawmaker is calling for two state office holders to trade in top-of-the-line SUVs bought with state money for more reasonably priced vehicles. That kind of purchase would be illegal under new legislation expected to be signed into law this week.
State Rep. Mitch Gore (D-Indianapolis) has recently engaged in a social media battle with Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith over his ride bought with tax dollars.
Beckwith presided over the State Senate session Tuesday afternoon. His office said he was not available for an interview on the cost of his state-purchased vehicle. Beckwith is traveling Indiana in a top-of-the-line 2025 Chevy Tahoe High Country. State records show the SUV was bought in February for $87,672.
The office of Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales bought a $90,000 GMC Yukon Denali last summer.
