A portion of U.S. Highway 31 in Johnson County will be renamed in memory of a fallen state trooper. This week, the Indiana Senate approved a resolution to rename the stretch from Smith Valley Road to County Line Road as "State Trooper Aaron Smith Memorial Highway." Smith was killed in 2023 while helping fellow troopers who were chasing a stolen car in Hendricks County.
