Description
One of Gov. Mike Braun’s top priorities for change in Indiana was front and center Monday at the Indiana Statehouse.
Hundreds rallied in support of the governor’s proposal to lower property taxes.
“I want you to repeat after me. Maybe some of these lawmakers will hear you,” Jason Hammer, of WIBC, yelled to a crowd packing the third floor of the Indiana Statehouse on March 17.
“Where’s my money? Where’s my money? Where’s my money?” the crowd yelled back, demanding lawmakers do something about their rising property taxes.
“In the next hour, we are going to lay out all the reasons why we’re here, why we’re angry, why law-abiding taxpayers continually get the shaft from Republicans in this building,” Hammer told those gathered, many lining the steps leading to the fourth floor.
Much of their anger was directed at Republican lawmakers, who some viewed as not doing enough to bring property taxes down in their property tax relief proposals this session.
