A critical deadline is approaching for Indiana residents protected by the utility bill winter moratorium. Disconnections for nonpayment will resume Saturday, March 15. Indiana code prevents utilities from cutting off your heat source from Dec. 1 through mid-March under certain conditions: Receiving help from the federally funded Energy Assistance Program (EAP), or Qualified for EAP funds, has formally applied for the program at your local EAP intake office and has provided the utility with written proof.
