Description
An Indianapolis woman, who killed two people in two separate crashes, pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless homicide.
Dr. Brian Dillman, an emergency room physician and father, was walking on the sidewalk near 49th and Meridian streets on May 19, 2022, when he was struck and killed. Kelli Anderson was behind the wheel of the car that hit him.
Investigators say Anderson was told by doctors after that crash that she was a high risk to herself and others and should not drive for six months until cleared by a neurologist. Anderson allegedly told doctors she understood.
Less than a month later, Kiana Burns, a mother of four, was in a stopped car when Anderson slammed into it going almost 70 miles an hour. Burns died from her injuries.
On March 10, 2025, Anderson pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in both deadly crashes. Multiple charges of criminal recklessness and recklessness are dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to ask for no more than three years of executed prison time and three years on probation.
The plea agreement also says Anderson's license would be suspended for six years.
Anderson's sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 10.
