Description
IMPD officers are investigating a mass overdose in downtown Indianapolis Friday afternoon.
Emergency crews shut down sections of Washington and Alabama streets in the late afternoon of March 7. Those streets were back open as of 4 p.m.
A large number of emergency vehicles, including police, fire and ambulance services, were seen in the area near the Julia M. Carson Transit Center and the City-County Building.
An IMPD spokesperson told 13News they believe the situation is related to drug overdoses. Six people in total were injured, and five of them were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Four of them needed breathing assistance on the scene. All of the people involved are believed to be adults.
