Description
The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 near 5800 West 29th Place in Gary, Indiana, near West 29th Avenue and Burr Street.
Responding Gary Police Department officers found the child with a gunshot wound to the back of their neck. The child was "stable" when taken to Methodist Northlake Hospital, and later transferred to the University of Chicago for additional treatment, officials said.
While officers were securing the crime scene in the middle of 29th Place, they were told that three adult gunshot victims from the incident – an 18-year-old man, 20-year-old man and 22-year-old man – had arrived at Methodist Northlake Hospital.
