Description
A bill banning trans women from participating in college women's sports has passed out of the Indiana House.
House Bill 1041, authored by Rep. Michelle Davis (R-District 58), would require all sports teams at colleges to be male, female or coeducational. Athletes who were assigned male at birth would be barred from participating in female/women's/girls' teams or sports.
Under the bill, out-of-state schools would have to warn Indiana schools if one or more athletes on their team were trans women.
HB 1041 would also require state educational institutions, some private postsecondary educational institutions and certain athletic associations to establish grievance procedures for violations of the bill.
