Description
It's hard to imagine a little known show called "Saturday Night Live" premiered Oct. 11, 1975.
The late-night live sketch comedy variety show is commemorating its milestone 50th season with a three-hour live special called "SNL50: The Anniversary Special."
"It's the ultimate training ground for a comedian," said Andrew Dismukes, currently in his fifth season as a cast member after joining the show as a staff writer in Season 43. "You generate so much material, you learn so much, you're working in comedy every single day — that's very rare to get to do as a comedian for as long as we have and everyone that's been involved in the show."
James Austin Johnson, currently in his fourth season, is best known for his portrayal of President Donald Trump, impersonating him on "Saturday Night Live" since 2021.
"You flip on the news, and you see him talking, and you go, 'This guy,'" Johnson said. "It's a character I've cooked up. It's a little bit him and a little bit of stuff that I'm fabricating."
"SNL50: The Anniversary Special" airs live Sunday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
