Description
Between 1941 and 1946, nearly 1,000 African American aviators completed flight training at Tuskegee University in Alabama. These members of the United States Army Air Force fought bravely in World War II.
They are known as the Tuskegee Airmen.
Howard County can proudly claim five of these heroes as their own — Gordon Morgan, Sgt. Andrew Dunnigan, Lt. John McClure, Lt. Colonel Bennett Hardy and Major Cunningham.
