Description
A bipartisan group of lawmakers, interdenominational religious leaders and activists are calling for an end to the death penalty in Indiana.
House Bill 1030 would repeal the death penalty in Indiana and commute standing death sentences to life in prison.
The bill was authored by Rep. Robert Morris (R-District 84), and co-authored by Rep. Chris Judy (R- District 83), Rep. Jake Teshka (R-District 7) and Rep. Mark Genda (R-District 41). Several Democrats, including Rep. Victoria Garcia Wilburn (D-District 32) have come out in support of the bill.
