Description
IMPD child abuse detectives arrested two parents for their alleged roles in the death of their 8-year-old child on the near north side of Indianapolis.
On May 1, 2024, officers responded to a report of a child who was not breathing in the 3600 block of North Capitol Avenue, near 38th and North Meridian streets.
When police arrived on scene, they found the 8-year-old girl, identified in court documents as Gwendolyn Cooksey, who was not breathing. Medics attempted to save her life, but Gwendolyn was pronounced dead at a hospital.
