Indiana State Police is investigating after a person was fatally shot by a northwest Indiana sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon. The incident happened around 4:15 p.m. Jan. 26 when a Jasper County Sheriff's Department deputy pulled over a car on State Road 14 east of County Road 475 East, near the community of Lewiston and the Pulaski County line. An ISP spokesperson said that during the traffic stop, the deputy tried to arrest the person, who resisted.
