The Wayne Township Fire Department is investigating a Saturday evening apartment fire on Indy's west side. According to a department spokesperson, around 8:25 p.m. on Jan. 25, firefighters were called to the 6200 block of Lakeview Drive, near 10th Street and Interstate 465, on a report of an apartment fire with entrapment. When firefighters arrived, they found six people who had become trapped on one of the balconies. The spokesperson said the fire broke out in the hallway of the second floor, cutting off access to the first floor. The spokesperson said two people – an adult and a child – jumped from the second-story balcony to safety. Neither the adult or child were injured, according to the spokesperson.
