Netflix will raise prices again after the streamer added nearly 19 million subscribers during the holiday-season quarter to help propel its earnings beyond analysts’ projections, signaling that the video streaming service’s expansion into live programming is paying off.
Netflix announced in its shareholder letter that it will be raising its prices in the U.S., Canada, Portugal and Argentina in the upcoming weeks. According to reports from the Wall Street Journal and CNN, the most inexpensive ad-supported tier will increase from $6.99 to $7.99 per month; the standard membership without ads will increase from $15.49 to $17.99; the premium tier, which includes 4K video, will jump $2 to $24.99 a month.
