Description
A former detention deputy for the Marion County Sheriff's Office is taking legal action, claiming she was wrongfully terminated.
A new lawsuit names Marion County Sheriff Kerry Forestal and Prosecutor Ryan Mears.
Attorney Sly Ayoubi said his client, former sheriff's department employee Mariam Adamson-Alvarez, was a model employee. She graduated at the top of her class. It ended after she was accused of stealing a little more than $690 in overtime from the department, an accusation, according to court documents, she believes was made in retaliation. She said it happened after she made a complaint to a supervisor about being put in a dangerous situation by a colleague.
